Bills Introduced – 8-29-25
Yesterday, with the House and Senate meeting in the last pro forma session of the summer recess, there were 23 bills introduced. Two of those bills will receive additional coverage in this blog:
HR 5061 Counter-UAS Authority Security, Safety, and Reauthorization Act Garbarino, Andrew R. [Rep.-R-NY-2]
HR 5062 Pipeline Security Act Johnson, Julie [Rep.-D-TX-32]
Counter UAS
It looks like HR 5061 will be similar to HR 8610, the Counter-UAS Authority Security, Safety, and Reauthorization Act, that was introduced by Rep Green (R,TN) in June of 2024. The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee held a business meeting on September 18th, 2024 where HR 8610 was considered. The bill was amended and ordered reported favorably. The Committee’s Report was published on September 20th, 2024. No further action was taken in the House.
Pipeline Safety
It looks like HR 5062 will be similar to HR 9469, the Pipeline Security Act, that was introduced by Rep Garcia (D,CA) in September 2024. The House Homeland Security Committee held a business meeting on September 25th, 2024 where the bill was considered. The bill was amended and passed on a voice vote. No report was published nor was a revised version of the bill published. No further action was taken in the House.
MIP
I would like to mention a bill in passing that will not receive additional coverage in this blog:
HR 5060 To provide whistleblower protections to Federal personnel for disclosing the use of Federal taxpayer funds to evaluate or research unidentified anomalous phenomenon material, and for other purposes. Burchett, Tim [Rep.-R-TN-2]
It looks like this bill will be similar to HR 10111, the UAP Whistleblower Protection Act, introduced by Burchett in November 2024. No action was taken in the House. A quick glance at that earlier bill looks like it does a poor job differentiating between legitimate (and public) efforts researching UAP to determine what various public reporting is identifying, as opposed to the covert investigation of ‘alien technology’ that so many folks (specifically including Burchette and much of the UAP Caucus that he founded) ‘know’ that the US government is holding.
