I posted the following to my social media feeds (X, Mastodon, Substack, and LinkedIn):
I added the following comment on a post about grammar and spelling tools: “Remember that every word in the English language was made up by someone. As a writer you have the authority and right to make up new words. If they serve a unique need, they will be adopted, even if they violate the rules.”
I added the following comment to a LinkedIn discussion about age hiring discrimination: “I had one HR manager ask me how much longer I was intending on working. Another asked me if I would have any problems reporting to a younger manager. Both clear expressions of age discrimination. I did not take any action on either company (not worth my time), I was just glad that they did not hire me as I would not want to continue to have to fight age discrimination on an ongoing basis.”
