I posted the following reply to a discussion on Mastodon about yesterday’s revelation about the inclusion of the Atlantic editor on the ‘secure chat’ about US attacks against the Houthi rebels: “I think people fail to realize that the Trump organizations distrust of the 'deep state' is really distrust of professionals; a basic refusal to accept that true understanding of the world takes study and experience. Professionals understand the difference between a 'secure chat application' and secure communications. Amateurs do not. The Trump Administration is fundamentally made up of amateurs. These types of mistakes are to be expected and feared.”
