I posted the following to my social media feeds (X, Mastodon, Substack, and LinkedIn):
I posted this in response to a discussion on Mastodon about the increasing incidents of Vitamin A toxicity incidents being seen in children in Texas as part of the measles outbreak there: “Unfortunately, too many folks do not trust science as they do not understand it, and many actively distrust it because of misinformation from other sources that they do trust. I really believe that this is a result of our under-funded education system.”
I posted this in response to a discussion about ‘natural’ vs ‘artificial’ flavorings on LinkedIn: “I worked as a process chemist in specialty chemical manufacturing for years. I absolutely hated it when we had to use chemicals from 'natural' sources, the variability in the natural contaminants of those chemicals frequently interfered with our manufacturing processes. It would not surprise me to learn that natural contaminants in 'natural' food products could cause problems in the biochemical operations within our bodies.”
