• I posted the following to a note about not using alcohol on Substack Notes: “I did not drink in my teens, I read books and rode bicycles, I drank heavy in my 20’s and did some drugs, it was expected of me by my peers, but I kept my books at hand, I drank moderately in my 30’s and eased off the drugs, I needed to slow down and books became more important in my life I have had very little alcohol since, and books became even more important, In my 50’s I finally returned to writing, my secret dream, and books became less important, I have no need for alcohol or drugs any longer, I no longer need to dull my mind, Reading and writing, that is what I need to sooth my mind.
