It is making no pretense of being independent. The Congress? The Republican controlled House is in virtual lock step with the Administration. The American People? They do not have a vote on the issue until 2026 (if then). The Supreme Court? Remember they gave the President immunity for official actions. The new Administration has discovered that they can do pretty much whatever they want to do.”
